Adult's biological meaning is a term used to describe an animal that is capable of reproducing. When used with human beings, the term "adult" could mean anything that is related to legal or social ideas. Legally mature means that a person has reached the age of adulthood and is considered independent, self sufficient, and responsible. The term "major" may be used to describe the person. There is a general belief that the age at which a person can legally become an adult is 18. However, this can be different based on rights under the law and country as well as psychological development.

adulthood is the stage of the life of an individual in which full physical and intellectual maturity have been attained. It usually starts at an age that is 21. It is generally believed that middle age starts at 40 or so years old, then it will be about 60. Early adulthood begins between the ages of 18 to 30. Mid-life adulthood begins around the mid-30s through to the 60s. Late adulthood starts at mid-60s. As we enter the initial stage of adulthood (between 20 and 40), our bodies have reached their full maturity even though our weight and height might increase a bit. In the early years of our adulthood, we're physically and mentally at the peak. The strength of our muscles, the response time, sensoriac ability and cardiac function all reach their maximum.
